One Last Day of Snow Fun

Here we are at the end of March and Texas weather is proving to be just as unpredictable as always. On Friday the 19th we were in the 70's and thought spring had finally arrived....boy were we wrong! Sunday morning we woke up to 5 inches of snow!

Jack was so excited he could barely eat his breakfast. All he wanted to do was play in the snow. He also thought it was Christmas again and that Santa was coming to bring him presents. I just love the way his mind works. He was seriously disappointed when I told him that Santa wasn't coming, so I tried to ease his mind by telling him the Easter Bunny would be visiting soon, but I don't thing he understands that the Easter Bunny means lots of sugary treats and an Easter Egg Hunt.

We got all of our gear on and headed out for an hour of pure joy. I love watching him play! Children find joy in the simplest of things. Below are some of my favorite shots from the day.

Baby Girl Crist Update

Over the past week, I came to the realization this pregnancy is moving along very quickly. I can't believe I only have two more weeks left in the second trimester. Soon we will schedule the date for my c-section and know when she will arrive in the world- that is unless Mother Nature has other ideas.

We finally decided on a name for our little girl- Ella Grace. Below is her profile image from around 19 weeks.

With Jack's transition to his big boy room complete, it's time to get started on the nursery. The bedding arrived this week and my wonderful mother-in-law is making curtains, a coordinating diaper stacker and mobile cover as I write. I can't wait to get them. In the meantime, Jon will be raising the crib back up and putting the front of the crib back on since it was coverted to a toddler bed for Jack and I will be looking at paint samples.

I splurged for the first time since finding out we were having a girl on an outfit a few weeks ago as well. I just couldn't pass up this little sundress and hat wth strawberries on it- it reminded me of something my mother put my sister and I in.

Transitioning to the Big Boy Room/Bed

While we still have some final touches to put on Jack's room (i.e. hanging shelves and decor) we made the transition from nursery to big boy room this weekend. Saturday morning we made the trip to Babies 'R Us for the bed rails (FYI not all WalMarts or Targets carry these in store, though you can order them online) and with a little patience Jon got them put together and on the bed.

I have to admit at first Jack was a bit weary of actually sleeping in his room. We have played in there on numerous occasions and he even "helped" me move his clothes and books from one room to the other, but something about being in the dark in the room didn't seem very appealing to him at first. With a little coaching and the additon of Mater, Lightning McQueen and his juice he layed down with me in the bed. I stayed with him until he fell asleep and he slept soundly for 2 1/2 hours.

When Jack woke up he wasn't the happiest little man...I actually got scolded for a good 20 minutes for not being in the room when he woke up.

Needless to say the attempt to have him sleep in the room for the night wasn't successful. He ended up in our room....hogging the king size bed. We will try again tonight....I picked up some night lights at lunch so we will see if they make the room less scary. Next stop...BRIBERY.
